I am frequently asked, "What do you do with your time, now that you are retired?" When I answer that I sew a lot, I sense that it is sometimes bewildering to others that playing with fabric for endless hours can be fun, creative, social, stimulating and satisfying, albeit sometimes frustrating.

Sewing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl, my grandmother and I would spend hours making doll clothes and quilts for dolly beds. As I got older I graduated to using her treadle machine to make garments for myself under the guidance of a drill-sergeant 4-H leader (you WILL make a straight 5/8 inch seam!!!). These days I have lots of sewing toys and friends who encourage me to have fun with fabric.
